At Ashley Elementary School, we are committed to fostering joy, intellectual curiosity, creativity, and rigorous learning opportunities for all students. The GT program provides equitable services and programming that supports our Gifted/Highly Gifted (GT/HGT), Magnet Eligible and Talent Pool students. With the DPS Equity Statement in mind, we review student performance data and analyze root causes of disparities in identification of gifted learners so that we can develop a plan of action to increase the success and achievement of all students, including those that represent historically marginalized identities. The GT Itinerant teacher continuously monitors student data, administers assessments through universal screenings and nominations, and works collaboratively with classroom teachers, families, and students in developing and implementing Advanced Learning Plans. Professional development, coaching, and/or resources are available to support classroom teachers to be able to give all students equal access to high level instructional practices, including enrichment and acceleration of the district curriculum. Families are provided support and opportunities to help their child grow.
