Thank you for visiting our website and welcome to Ashley Elementary school. If you haven’t stopped by, please take the opportunity to visit our great school. The first thing you will notice is our new playground that respects the art deco style of the 1920’s and 30’ and adds to the distinction of the building. Once you enter the building you will be greeted by the bright, cheery artwork of the students and an office staff that is bilingual, friendly and helpful. As you visit classrooms, you will find professional teachers who are not only dedicated to helping your child be a good learner, but also to be a good person who knows how to get along with people who are different from them. Indeed, we have a staff that truly cares about your child and, with your help, work to help them be fully functioning members of our society. We have great students at Ashley Elementary who, along with the staff, reflect the diversity of the world in which we live. This aspect is especially important for our children who will be living in an even more diverse society than the one we now know.
Academically, Ashley Elementary is structured around the Transitional Native Language Instruction (TNLI) model that allows us to spend a couple of years teaching core subjects in Spanish while we build the students knowledge of the English language. Once they have attained a certain level of English proficiency, we transition them to an English only classroom. The goal of the TNLI model is to provide core curriculum instruction in the child’s native language so that when they do transition, they are not behind in reading, math, science and social studies. In our quest to create well-rounded students, we have added a technology teacher, a music program which includes a collaboration with the Colorado Youth Choir, a violin program, a dance program, fencing, basketball team, art, tennis, theater and other sports activities.
Please take the time to visit our website and get to know us better. If you would like to stop by, please do. We would be happy to give you a guided tour. Also, if you would like to help with funding of the school, you will see a “Donate here” bar on this website that will allow you to make a tax-deductible donation to Ashley Elementary. You will also have the opportunity to buy advertising space on our website if you would prefer that avenue.
Thank you for your continued support.
