Denver School of the Arts
Denver School of the Arts partners with Ashley Elementary allowing our students to benefit from DSA programming. The only school in Denver with such a partnership, DSA and Ashley offer after school clubs in five of the majors offered at DSA. For the Fall 2017 semester, the following clubs will be offered free of charge to Ashley scholars: theatre, video cinema, visual arts, guitar and band on Tuesday and Thursdays from 3:45-4:30pm. The first session of the DSA/Ashley partnership will run from the week of 9/11-12/19. For questions about the DSA partnership, or how to get your child enrolled, please contact our coordinator Nicole Schrensky at Nicole_Schrensky@dpsk12.org.
It only takes 1 hour a week to make a difference at Ashley Elementary. Reading Partners empowers you to make a real difference by tutoring students who are reading 6 months to 2.5 years below grade-level. No prior experience is required. Teach fundamental reading skills using our easy-to-follow curriculum, and inspire a love of reading! Tutoring takes place Monday-Thursday, 9am to 4pm, and we work with your schedule. Students are ready to begin today: become a Reading Partner for a child in need! We’re looking for volunteer groups and weekly volunteers, and we are always looking for book donations (you can host a book drive)! Sign up or ask questions at www.readingpartners.org, call 720-409-9909, or ask at the main office for the Reading Partners Site Coordinator!
Scholars Unlimited is a five day per week after-school and summer program that provides elementary students with literacy and math tutoring as well as enrichment. Our mission is to support young learners by providing rigorous literacy instruction and enrichment programs to help students achieve measurable success and to inspire life-long learning. Beyond literacy and math tutoring, Scholars Unlimited participants have fun on field trips, in clubs, and during recreational activities.
Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO)
The Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra is a special partner at Ashley Elementary. CYSO provides violin lessons to our young scholars every week after school. Students are able to engage in a musical education that allows them to achieve a well-rounded education.
Rocky Mountain Children’s Choir
The Rocky Mountain Children’s Choir affords our scholars an opportunity to engage in a musical opportunity that will enrich their artistic hearts after the regular school day is over. Ashley students can become part of this choir every Tuesday.
The Rocky Mountain Children’s Choir believes that music can make a positive difference in the lives of children. Its comprehensive choral music education program brings children of all ages together across the Denver area in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Children learn to sing and read music while they develop self confidence, build relationships, strive for excellence, and gain an appreciation and respect for one another.
